Best places to work: Top 10 large federal agencies
Once again, NASA topped the
list of the “Best Places to Work in the Federal Government” among large agencies. The space agency garnered the No.1 spot for the past three years despite budget cuts and the end of the space shuttle program.
Last year, NASA was featured in “10 Years of the Best Places to Work in the Federal Government,” a collection of case studies that looked at agencies that have successfully engaged their workforce.
“NASA leaders have sought to enhance the job satisfaction of the agency’s nearly 18,000 federal employees by stepping up their focus on innovation, leadership development, work–life balance and other workplace issues,” the 2013 report said.
The recent report, released Tuesday by the Partnership for Public Service and Deloitte, primarily taps into data gleaned from the Office of Personnel Management’s Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey, which was completed by nearly 400,000 federal workers. Researchers used responses to three questions to generate an index out of 100 points.
