The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has awarded a $335 million contract to BAE Systems to maintain its “Map of the World” project.
BAE will be responsible for enhancing the project moving forward as NGA moves away from static mapping products.
“Our GEOINT experts will be exploring new sources of data, including commodity data, open source intelligence, and NGA archive data to deliver new products in line with the agency’s changing mission focus,” said DeEtte Gray, president of BAE Systems’ Intelligence & Security sector, in a statement.
The “Map of the World” was a key project for outgoing NGA Director Letitia Long, who is retiring in October. The service plans to provide an integrated view of collection assets from across the intelligence community; mapping information for military operations; geospatial intelligence observations; and NGA analytic products, data and models.
The contract’s length was not disclosed.
