After more than three years as the CIO of the FBI, Gordon Bitko has bid farewell to his time in government.

Bitko posted to LinkedIn that his final day with the law enforcement agency was last Friday. He will be joining the trade association Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) as senior vice president of policy.

There he will lead the organization’s focus on public sector policy issues, such as “federal and state procurement rules and regulations, public sector supply chain risk management and security, federal IT modernization, government acquisition and implementation of cybersecurity and other innovative products and services,” ITI wrote in a release.

“Whether it is cloud computing, cybersecurity, big data, Internet of Things or social media, technology is a driving force behind local, state, and federal governments,” Bitko said in a statement. “Having worked with ITI members in both public and private sector capacities, I understand the important relationship between the technology industry and agencies at all levels of government.”
