The agency selected 27 science organizations, museums and universities to receive a chunk of the $42 million to expand their science program for children of all ages.

The Tinkering Studio, a makerspace inside the Exploratorium, a science museum in San Francisco, received a $750,000 grant from the Department of Education and other sources.
