Office of Management & Budget Director Jack Lew and Federal Chief Performance Officer Jeff Zients released a memo implementing the Government Performance Results Modernization Act that gives agencies guidance to improve how they manage progress.
The law, signed in January, calls for quarterly performance reviews and has each agency name a senior executive responsible for each goal. OMB wants agencies to begin working on and tracking the progress of these goals as soon as possible.
“The agency priority goals should represent a subset of an agency’s strategic plan that the agency would like to accomplish over the next 24 months,” the memo said. “In most cases, agency priority goals should directly contribute to the advancement of at least one strategic goal.”
