NGA Move to Springfield Nearing Halfway

As of this week, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has nearly half its employees working in its new 2.4 million square foot Springfield headquarters with the complete move expected by September of this year.

The consolidation of NGA’s facilities in the Washington, D.C., area to the Fort Belvoir’s North Area is due to the Defense Base Realignment and Closure Commission requirements in 2005. As of today, 4,000 of the agency’s 8,500 employees and contractors have been moved to the new building.

NGA’s Campus East headquarters was designed to enhance mission performance, facilitate physical and virtual collaboration, and promote greater information sharing both internally and across the broader Intelligence Community.
