As the Cyber Reskilling Academy’s second cohort moves on, trainers reflect on the impact

The second cohort of the Federal Cyber Reskilling Academy has wrapped, and the contractor that handled the training is sharing its process for how it has benchmarked and tracked participants' progress. Comtech Telecommunications rated applicants’ potential to succeed in a cyber career prior to their admission into the cohort and for the first time administered hands-on CYBRScore skills assessments throughout the eight-week instructional period. Now, the contractor is looking to offer the same services to other agencies who want to reskill their workforces. Dave Nyczepir has more.

Army NETCOM doles out $118M to GDIT for IT, cyber support

General Dynamics Information Technology won a $118 million task order Thursday to provide cybersecurity support and specialized staff to the Army Network Enterprise Technology Command. GDIT won the single-award task order and will provide security compliance, real-time network monitoring, sensor grid monitoring, incident triage, and patching support for the Army’s portion of the Department of Defense Information Network. DHS announces winners of opioid detection challenge

The Department of Homeland Security this week announced the winners of its $1.5 million opioid detection challenge. IDSS, an airport security scanning company based in Armonk, New York, won $500,000 for its solution, which combines a 3D X-ray scanner with “automated detection algorithms.” The runner-up, One Resonance, presented a solution that uses radio frequency to search for illicit substances. It won $250,000. Tajha Chappellet-Lanier has more.
