NDAA gets closer to passage

The 2021 National Defense Authorization Act is nearing passage. And the defense policy bill is loaded with changes for how the Pentagon — and other parts of government — will embrace artificial intelligence and cybersecurity moving forward. Most notably, the bill would elevate the Joint AI Center to report directly to the deputy secretary of Defense. Jackson Barnett has more from the bill.

Hurd and Kelly’s national AI strategy resolution passes House

Similarly, a national artificial intelligence strategy coauthored by Reps. Will Hurd, R-Texas, and Robin Kelly, D-Ill., has passed the House. The nonbinding resolution consists of 78 actions across four areas — workforce, national security, research and development, and ethics — the U.S. should prioritize. Dave Nyczepir has this one.

Palantir lands deal with FDA

Palantir's latest federal contract is a $44.4 million deal with the Food and Drug Administration to develop an enterprise data management and analytics solution to support human drug reviews. The three-year contract will improve data-driven decision making specifically at the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research and the Oncology Center of Excellence. More from Dave.
