TMF at risk because lawmakers don't understand modernization, Connolly says

As lawmakers toy with the idea of zeroing out the Tech Modernization Fund in fiscal 2020, Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., continues fighting to get the fund money to jumpstart modernization projects across government. Connolly pointed to a lack of knowledge around tech issues on Capitol Hill as the reason the TMF is at risk of losing appropriations. “You start talking about these issues and many of my colleagues… their eyes glaze over and they want to talk about anything else," Connolly said. NOAA accelerating cloud migration with $144M BPA

NOAA is looking for help from Unisys to advance its move to the cloud. The agency awarded a five-year, $144 million contract to Unisys to adopt its CloudForte solution and manage a multi-cloud environment to continue daily weather forecasts, severe storm warnings and climate monitoring. Among the cloud providers the agency will use in this new environment are Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. Dave Nyczepir has more on the contract.

USASpending.gov data improving, but limitations remain, GAO says

GAO has good news and bad news. While USASpending.gov's data has improved in recent years, it still faces limitations, according to a new audit. And the Treasury Department must get better at disclosing those limitations in a transparent way or face leading users to inadvertently draw inaccurate conclusions from incomplete data.
