White House names Drew Myklegard as permanent US deputy chief information officer

The White House has named veteran federal IT leader Andrew Myklegard as permanent deputy chief information officer of the United States, FedScoop has learned. He takes up the appointment after serving in the role on an acting basis since the departure of Maria Roat earlier this year. John Hewitt Jones has the scoop.

Federal Acquisition Service leader says pinpointing critical software key to supply chain security

The federal IT community must prioritize the identification of critical software components within product suites as it works to address supply chain risk, according to Federal Acquisition Service commissioner Sonny Hashmi. Speaking Tuesday at ACT-IAC’s Imagine Nation ELC he called for work to pinpoint code with national security implications to begin, even as certain critical software definitions continue to evolve. IRS deputy procurement chief says $7.5M ceiling for contracts awarded as part of pilot could rise

The IRS may increase the $7.5 million ceiling for contracts awarded through a pilot program for streamlining acquisition, Deputy Chief Procurement Officer Guy Torres said Tuesday. The program, which is called Pilot IRS, provides phased funding to deploy innovative tools addressing internal challenges. Dave Nyczepir has the story.


VA appoints Lisa Rosenmerkel as acting chief data officer

The Department of Veterans Affairs has named Lisa Rosenmerkel as acting chief data officer. She takes up the role on Nov. 5, following the departure of incumbent chief data officer Kshemendra Paul, who leaves the agency at the end of October. John Hewitt Jones has this also.
