MAS consolidation nearing end

The General Services Administration plans to finish its Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) consolidation by the end of 2021, Stephanie Shutt, director of the agency's MAS Program Management Office, said Wednesday. Contractors had until the end of day Wednesday to update their price lists so the special item numbers (SINs) and schedule numbers match what’s in the GSA systems, which will help customer agencies find contracts more easily. Now GSA wants MAS holders with multiple contracts to submit their plans by year’s end for consolidating them down to one per unique entity identifier (UEI). Dave Nyczepir has more.

The tools the SolarWinds hackers used

Military and security officials are unveiling details of the hacking tools used by suspected Russian spies as part of the massive SolarWinds hack. The “malware analysis report” from U.S. Cyber Command and the Department of Homeland Security, which CyberScoop obtained, spotlights 18 pieces of malicious code allegedly used by Russian hackers, who exploited software made by the federal contractor SolarWinds and other vendors on their way to infiltrating nine U.S. government agencies and 100 companies. CMMC under 'internal review'

The Pentagon is reviewing the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program — the new cyber standards that all defense contractors will need to adhere to bid on contracts. The DOD did not provide details on the review but said it was routine for a high-impact program like CMMC. “As is done in the early stages of many programs, the DoD is reviewing the current approach to CMMC to ensure that it is achieving stated goals as effectively as possible while not creating barriers to participation in the DoD acquisition process,” spokeswoman Jessica Maxwell said in a statement to FedScoop.
