Regulations.gov has launched a major redesign, including new search tools, social media connections and improved access to regulatory data, said White House Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs Cass Sunstein.

The redesign came as part of a presidential executive order calling for regulatory agencies to base regulations on an open exchange of information and perspectives, along with promoting public participation in federal rulemaking.

“The result is a significantly improved website that will help members of the public to engage with agencies and ultimately to improve the content of rules,” Sunstein said.

The new site includes an API that will let developers pull data from the site, 10 new user categories and a “Learn” section to help people better understand the regulatory process.
