The Department of the Interior awarded Onix Networking a $35 million contract to provide cloud computing email, effectively ending a more than two-year process.
The agency originally awarded the contract to Microsoft reseller Softchoice, but following protests from Onix and Google (Onix provides Google’s email-as-a-service in the cloud), the department withdrew the contract.
Interior issued a new request for information last September and a request for proposals in February.
The contract Onix won is $17 million less than the $59 million contract initially won by Softchoice.
