GovDelivery earns FedRAMP certification
GovDelivery, the public sector digital marketing platform that hundreds of government agencies across America rely upon to blast out emails, has been certified by the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program after review by the Joint Authorization Board.
The new certification, which the company announced Tuesday, means that GovDelivery’s platform — already used by the Departments of Homeland Security, Defense, Veteran’s Affairs, and Health and Human Services — complies with minimum security standards for moderate impact data and can now be deployed by all federal agencies.
FedRAMP Director Matt Goodrich indicated that the certification would boost the agencies that use GovDelivery on their own paths to compliance.
“GovDelivery is already used widely across Federal government so the FedRAMP JAB authorization will streamline ongoing security approvals for many agencies,” Goodrich said in a release. “In addition, our team here at FedRAMP will be using GovDelivery to communicate with stakeholders.”
The JAB, which consists of Chief Information Officers from the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and the General Services Administration, certified the platform after a rigorous review. In order to meet compliance standards for moderate impact data, a platform must enforce 297 baseline security controls set out in the Federal Information Processing Standards and NIST Special Publication 800-53 Rev. 3.
Moderate is the higher of two impact levels administered by FedRAMP; the other, low impact level, requires only 116 security controls.
“As the Federal government continues to close the gap between its private market counterparts by delivering the quick, convenient and rewarding digital interactions that citizens have become accustomed to, they begin to face the inherent risks associated with that innovation,” said Scott Burns, CEO of GovDelivery.
“We’re proud to be FedRAMP compliant so that our digital communications platform can help public sector organizations connect even more citizens with the resources and information they need.”
