EPA Challenges Developers to Build ‘Apps for the Environment’

Apps for the Environment

The Environmental Protection Agency has launched Apps for the Environment that challenges civic-minded developers to creatively “come up with the best, most useful, innovative way to use, show, or combine publicly available EPA data in an app.”

Submissions deadline is September 16, 2011. Judging and public voting will be Sept. 17 to Oct. 7 and winners will be announced Oct. 31.

Apps will be judged based on usefulness, innovativeness and usability. Prizes will be awarded by “Best Overall App,” “Best Student App” and “Popular Choice App.” Winners will be invited to Washington, DC to present their apps, which will be featured on EPA’s Website for a year.
