The Department of Energy is searching for a deputy chief information officer. The job pays between $119,554 and $179,700 per year and is open for applications until August 23.
In coordination with the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Deputy CIO will develop and issue policies, standards, and guidelines to improve the management and utilization of information and information technology resources throughout the Department.
In addition, the Deputy CIO will help develop strategic plans for use of information technology within the Department.
The Deputy CIO provides the CIO with advice and other assistance to ensure that information technology is acquired and resources are managed in a manner that implements the policies and procedures of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996.
The incumbent serves as the central point within the Department for the establishment and coordination of Departmental strategies, plans, policies, budgeting, design, development, implementation, and control of information technology and information resources.
Oversees and directs the planning, acquisition, operation, and maintenance of Headquarters information technology systems, facilities and services.
Helps maximize the value and manages the risks of information technology acquisitions and maximizes the effective management of systems acquisition and software development.
As required, represents the CIO in meetings and dealing with key management or equivalent stakeholders and representatives in and outside, the Department, (i.e., other Federal agencies, state and local governments, congressional staff, unions, interest groups, professional associations and organizations on matters within the purview of the Office of the CIO).
