Labor Dept. looks to create a digital transformation team

The Labor Department is looking to create a digital transformation team, according to an email sent to an 18F-managed distribution list this week.

The department is planning to stand up the team within their Wage and Hour Division and fill four positions for the team by Sept. 30: senior transformation specialist, product manager, software engineer and user experience designer.

“18F has been working with the Wage and Hour Division for a long time now, and we’ve helped lay the groundwork for broad adoption of agile methodologies and human-centered design,” 18F’s Philip Harding wrote in the email to subscribers of the list.

For example, last year 18F helped the Labor Department conduct a two-day agile design sprint to develop a plan to quickly move the Field Operations Handbook, currently produced as binders and online PDFs, online and give it better search capabilities.

“This is an excellent time to get involved and help shape how a critical federal agency modernizes how they work,” Harding wrote.

The deadline for consideration is Thursday.
