A little more than a year into his first government job, Ryan Cote’s early tenure has been characterized by calculated decision making. While many agencies are interested in using commercial artificial intelligence applications for cybersecurity, Cote is waiting for a product or service that’s a true “force multiplier.” Defining AI should be the first priority, he added. “Being a leader means being someone who drives change and success with relentless energy, conviction and belief in the goodness and abilities of the teams they lead,” Cote said. “To a slightly lesser extent, ‘small v’ virtues, or character traits if you prefer, are things like resiliency, flexibility, communication, responsibility and accountability.”
