The Army & Air Force Exchange Service within the Department of Defense is seeking a chief information officer. The job pays between $119,554 and $165,300 per year and is open for applications until December 13.
The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (the Exchange), now in its 117th year; FY11 sales exceeded $10 billion; 3,700 facilities is a joint military activity providing quality merchandise and services to active duty, Guard & Reserve, military retirees and their families (12.4M eligible patrons). Number of associates employed by the Exchange exceeds 42,000.
The Exchange is responsible for more than 3,700 facilities worldwide in more than 30 countries, 5 US Territories and 50 States to include retail, food, military clothing, and other service facilities. Products are offered to authorized customers via retail stores, catalog, online and mobile shopping. The Exchange Dividends of $203M in FY11 were paid to Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) and the Air Force Services programs. In addition to funding morale welfare and services programs, Exchange earnings also go toward building new stores or renovating existing facilities. Construction funds for these new or replacement facilities come entirely from the sale of merchandise and services.
DUTIES:
Demonstrate leadership in accordance with the company’s vision, mission, and values. Champion the organization’s IT vision with executives, department heads, and users.
Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the business organization as a member of the senior management team.
Develop multi-year strategic plans for IT infrastructure, IT applications, and related solutions that are closely aligned with and support the company’s growth and strategic objectives.
Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
Develop and maintain an effective and efficient IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the business.
Oversee the development of business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for IT spending and initiatives. Develop, track, and control the IT annual operating and capital budgets.
Keep abreast of trends and issues in the Retail industry, including emerging technologies, eCommerce applications, hardware/software systems, outsourcing, and service providers.
Ensures IT operates in compliance with laws and regulations, and knowledge assets and PII is adequately safeguarded.
Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations.
Directs the development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
